Terhune and Wyckoff family papers, 1747-1932.

Collection consists primarily of legal papers of John Terhune (1767-1842) and his brother Abraham (1759-1840), developers of Coney Island resorts, concerning their estates and legal challenges by members of the Wyckoff family. Also included are items relating to the Town of Gravesend, the Gravesend and Coney Island Road and Bridge Company, Coney Island House, and personal papers of the Wyckoff family. Other items include a receipt, 1779, for tax paid on property owned by Albert Terhune (ca.1715-1806); and a letter from David Tallman to John Terhune proposing resort development for Coney Island, 1814.
